GEC Rate Watch
A quarterly-refreshed read on South African commercial/industrial rental benchmarks and consulting engineering fee guidance, GEC's own independent tracker, built and cited from public market commentary rather than reproducing any subscription report.
Rental figures are GEC's own tracker, not Rode's Report, not AECOM's Africa Cost Guide, not SAPOA member research, GEC has no license to republish any of those, every rental figure is cited to a public source you can trace. Engineering fee figures are ECSA's own gazetted guideline scale, reproduced from the public Government Gazette with its clause reference. For a live deal, verify current rental numbers with a broker and treat the fee scale as a negotiation starting point, not a fixed price.
Indicative only, uses the benchmark rows in the table below. Where GEC has no verified public rate for a region yet, the calculator tells you so instead of guessing.
R/m²/month for office/industrial/retail (gross unless noted); average total monthly rent for residential. Blank rate cells are regions GEC hasn't yet sourced a public figure for, the quarterly update targets these first. Confidence badge: market a named research house's own figure, listing individual asking rents not a survey average, unverified source page couldn't be directly re-checked, treat as lower confidence.
