Terms of Use

Last updated: 10 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Path to Professionalism website and the Android app published as Path to Professionalism (together, "P2P" or "the app").

1. Who we are

P2P is provided by Global Executive Consultants (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2018/065094/07), trading as GEC Group ("GEC", "we", "us"). Contact: [email protected]; app support: [email protected] or +27 81 236 9123.

P2P is an independent study-and-tracking tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP), the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP), the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), the South African Council for the Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP), or the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN). Council names, logos, and document titles are used descriptively so you can map your work to the published registration standards. That use does not imply any partnership or approval.

2. The service

P2P lets candidates across CBE professions log evidence, draft council-specific reports, keep an organogram (engineers), track CPD where offered, and (if they ask) share a pack with a mentor. The app is currently free. We do not collect payment in the app. See the Refund Policy.

3. Your content (UGC licence)

You own the notes, photos, organogram entries, report drafts, quiz answers, and other material you put into P2P ("your content"). You grant GEC a limited, non-exclusive licence to store that content, to assemble report drafts from it, and to share it with a mentor only when you request a review or interview. We do not use your content for advertising. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you log, including other people's names and titles on your organogram, and for having a lawful basis to record them.

4. Acceptable use

You may not use P2P to upload malware, attempt to break the service, harvest other users' data, or store someone else's personal information without a lawful basis. Do not impersonate another person or an ECSA official. When messaging a mentor, keep it respectful and on-topic; harassment, abuse, or unsolicited contact outside the review process is not allowed. We may suspend or delete an account that we reasonably believe is being abused or that creates legal risk for GEC or other users.

5. Starting drafts, not ECSA-approved submissions

Every report this app generates (Training & Experience Summary, Training & Experience Report, Engineering Report, Evidence Portfolio, Referee Report prep sheet, CPD certificate) is a starting draft assembled from what you logged. It is not final wording and it is not ECSA-approved. Read every section, correct anything inaccurate, and personalise it before it goes near a real ECSA submission. Always confirm the current required format at ecsa.co.za.

6. No warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, GEC disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app is error-free, that drafts will be accepted by ECSA, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GEC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, including lost registration time, lost opportunity, or failed ECSA submissions. GEC's total liability arising out of or relating to the app is capped at the fees you paid us for P2P in the 12 months before the claim. While the app is free, that amount is R0. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that South African law does not allow us to exclude, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where that cannot be limited.

8. Indemnity

You indemnify GEC, its directors, and its staff against claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your misuse of the app, or your breach of these terms, including claims that your organogram or evidence notes unlawfully include someone else's personal information.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time and request deletion of your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or delete an account for abuse, for legal risk, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue P2P we will give reasonable notice at the email on the account where we still can.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. POPIA complaints may be lodged with the Information Regulator (South Africa). Other disputes will be dealt with in the South African courts, or by mediation if both sides agree in writing first.

11. Copyright and trademarks

The P2P name, GEC marks, and the app's design and software are owned by Global Executive Consultants (Pty) Ltd or its licensors. You may not copy the app or use those marks except as needed to use the service. ECSA is a registered name of the Engineering Council of South Africa; we use it only to describe the public registration process.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The "last updated" date above shows the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Related pages: Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy.
